If you’re dealing with bite problems or crooked teeth, orthodontic treatment could solve these dental problems for good.

What do you think a straight smile says about someone? Do you think it makes them seem more confident, more attractive, or even more successful at work? If you found yourself agreeing with this reasoning, you aren’t the only one. The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry found that those with flawed smiles were seen as less attractive (37 percent) and less confident (25 percent) than their perfect-teeth counterparts. One study also found that 74 percent of people believe an unattractive smile can hurt someone’s chance for professional success. If you’re tired of gapping, overcrowding or crooked teeth, then it’s time to consider getting orthodontics in Decatur.

Orthodontics has come a long way, and there are many options out there to cater to your lifestyle:

Traditional Metal Braces

Conventional braces have been around for a while because they are effective. Any patient looking to get a straighter smile can be a good candidate for traditional braces. Luckily, the metal used in this treatment option has become more advanced over the years, so we can offer more lightweight and comfortable options for our patients.

Plastic Bracket Braces

This still offers the same effective results as traditional braces; however, it’s a little subtler. Since the brackets are made from clear plastic they are less noticeable than metal braces. Patients will still wear these braces for about two years, just like traditional metal orthodontics.

Lingual Braces

The metal or plastic brackets are actually cemented to the back of the teeth instead of the front, allowing patients to straighten their teeth without anyone knowing. Since lingual braces are hidden, they are often a bit more expensive than traditional braces. Also, lingual braces aren’t suitable for patients with serious bite problems or small teeth.

Invisalign

Invisalign offers a virtually clear way to straighten teeth. This series of clear, removable aligners boast comfort, efficiency and discreetness. Patients have no dietary restrictions, as the braces can be removed, and brushing and flossing isn’t affected.
